Nuance

With mirrors, me and you,
we controlled

the light. The light us, and us
dimmed godly, so

that, in darkness, we’d create.
Light spread over

your chest, the fine hairs
around your nipple: filament, eyelashes

casting spires of
shadows, sketching themselves down

the skin stretched round
your cheek bones. I loved you

enough to see you bare—
glowing flesh. Excuse me,

please, I
wake to witness.
